Dorothy R. Stacey, 79, of Berrien Springs, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at her home.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 13, 2010 at Berrien Center Bible Church, 8830 M-140 in Berrien Center with pastor Mark Smith officiating. A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Dorothy was born March 18, 1931 to Henry and Bonibel Rindels at Bijou Academy Hills, South Dakota. She graduated from Mitchell Senior High School in Mitchell, South Dakota in 1949. She became a Registered Nurse in 1950, graduating from Methodist State Hospital School of Nursing, Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, South Dakota.
She was employed at the former Berrien General Hospital, Berrien Center, Michigan. She retired from nursing in 1995 having worked as a school nurse in the Benton Harbor Area Schools from 1966 until June 1995. Dorothy loved her job as a school nurse in Benton Harbor and enjoyed all the wonderful parents and children she met.
The love of Dorothy's life was her family. She married Lionel Stacey on May 8, 1952. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past May. In her spare time she enjoyed reading and sewing.
Dorothy is survived by their five children, Kim (Jim) Vidt and Vikki (Greg) Jurgonski, both of Niles, Daniel (Valerie) Stacey and David (Jamie) Stacey of Berrien Springs, and Jill (Tim) Mcmanaman of Ohio, also 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, one brother Richard (Jean) Rindels of Wyoming, sister Gladys (Ken) Dickinson of Canada, sister Marjorie Bloomfield of Texas, 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bonibel Rindels, and brother-in-law John Bloomfield.
