Larry grew up on a farm in Southeast Nebraska. After graduating high school, he taught country school for a year. He moved to Chicago to work for American Airlines for 16 years. There he met & married the love of his life, Barbara Grove, in 1958. In 1973 they moved to Sodus & started an accounting & tax practice business. Larry was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a long-time member of the choir; a member of BPOE Lodge #544 in Benton Harbor, being Exalted Ruler in 1984-1985, and Moose Lodge #1570. His greatest accomplishment was when he got his pilots license in 1995. Larry loved flying. Larry loved singing. He would often start singing some little ditty that nobody else ever heard of.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; sons-Dr. Ed (Suzanne Black, DVM) Schoene, DVM of Springfield Center, NY, Dan Schoene of St. Joseph; daughter Bonnie (Bryan) Brown of Coloma; sisters-Ruth (Walt) Buss of Adams, NB; Evelyn (George) Kemmett of Ensanada, Baja Mexico; grandchildren-Brandon & Ashley & Justin Brown; and numerous “Favorite†nieces & nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
We know God needed you to pilot his plane, tell your jokes and sing your songs. God has taken you home. We love you and miss you! Until we meet again.
