Elizabeth “Betty” Hannapel, 101 of Sister Lakes, Dowagiac died Friday, June 5, 2015 at Forest Glen Assisted Living facility in Dowagiac.  A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI, with Father Kevin Covert officiating.  Burial will follow at a later date at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Home (Buchanan branch) 4017 Chamberlain Rd., Buchanan, MI  49107 and/or Alzheimer’s Assoc. SW Regional Office, 350 E. Michigan Ave., Suite 20, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.  Those wishing to leave a memory or condolence of Elizabeth online may do so at www.clarkch.com.   Elizabeth was born March 11, 1914 in Chicago, IL to Richard and Bertha (Boughton) Thexton.  Elizabeth married Howard Hannapel in 1937 in Chicago, IL.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and socializing with her friends.  She was very proud of being a member of Monday’s Angels.  She also enjoyed spending time at Dewey Lake, her four-legged friends and her wonderful marriage to Howard.  The family would like to extended their thanks and gratitude to the caregivers of Forest Glen Assisted Living facility.  Elizabeth is survived by her three children, Dr. Richard Hannapel, Susan (Wallace) Zoskey of Utica, MI and Jerald (Herbertine) Hannapel of Dowagiac. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, one brother, Gordon Thexton, one sister, Beverly Thexton and her parents.
