Katherine B. Valacak

Stevensville, MI. – Katherine Bernadette Valacak, 87, of Stevensville, MI., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Royalton Manor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St. in St. Joseph. The visitation will be held on Sunday, April 18th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. The family has requested that all memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home or American Cancer Society. Katherine was born on November 7, 1922 in Velika Polana, Slovenia to John and Barbara (Laki) Zver. She later married Cyril Valacak on October 4, 1947 in Benton Harbor, MI. She worked for over 25 years as a waitress at Schuler's Restaurant in Stevensville. Katherine is survived by her sons, Paul Valacak of Ann Arbor and Mark (Kimberly) Valacak of Fenton, MI and two grandchildren Alana and Paula. She is also survived by her sister, Annie Rainer of Hamilton, Ontario, sister-in-laws, Rosemary (Bob) VanArkel, Joanne Shane and Agatha (Jim) Filush, brother-in-law, Tom (Irene) Valacak and many nieces and nephews. Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril in 2005, her parents, John and Barbara, brother, Joseph Zver and sister, Veronica Persha.
