Eris Lonzo Reed

Eris Lonzo Reed, 84, of Benton Harbor passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 1, 2010 at the Benton Harbor Church of Christ 1495 E. Empire, Benton Harbor with Rusty Stark officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday, May 31, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mr. Reed was born October 30 1925 in Manila, AR to George & Elsie (Rushing) Reed. He married Joyce Pillow on March 18, 1944 in Jonesboro, AR. He then enlisted to serve his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper in WWII. After moving to Michigan, he became a pipe fitter and was a faithful member of there Benton Harbor Church of Christ where he served as an elder. After the death of his wife Joyce he married Laveal Poe Reed on February 18 2003and became a loving member of her family. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union Local 513. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife Laveal Poe Reed of Benton Harbor; son Mark (Lisa) Reed of St. Joseph; sisters Thelma Sparks of Paragould, AR. and Gene (Dennis) Hendley of Lake City, AR; brother Leonard Reed of Eau Claire; four grandchildren Travis Reed, Landon (Missy) Reed, Elizabeth Rhodes and Kelsey Rhodes; one great grandchild Charleigh Reed. Mr. Reed was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Reed; son Clifford “Kip” Reed; and two brothers Woodrow and Clarence Reed.
