Rosalyn L. Young

Rosalyn L. Young, 95, of St. Joseph passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Rosalyn was born December 31, 1914 in Anderson, IN to William & Emma (Leetge) Ickes. On October 10, 1927 she married Mike Young in Benton Harbor. Mike and Rosalyn began Young's Appliance in 1940 and were the founders of Mike Young Surplus for over 50 years. Rosalyn was a savvy businesswoman who loved golf and traveling. She was an avid reader and puzzler. After retiring in 1982, Rosalyn and her husband traveled extensively and enjoyed spending their winters at their home in Naples, Fl. Rosalyn is survived by her daughter Roxanne Kaatz – Ben Jersic of St. Joseph; granddaughter Abbie Jacobson – David Forthey of Chicago, IL; brother Richard Ickes of St. Joseph; many nieces & nephews. Rosalyn was preceded in death by her husband Mike Young in 1992; her parents; a sister Phyllis; and brothers Earl & Robert. We will always be grateful for the gifts of abundant patience, generosity & compassion that she shared with all she knew.
