John A. Sturgeon

Stevensville, MI – John Albert Sturgeon, 66, of Stevensville, MI, passed away on Monday, February 15, 30, 2010 following an illness he battled for many years. A visitation celebrating his life and a time of sharing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will be later at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Jay served his country as a United States Marine rifleman during the Vietnam era. He was extremely proud of his military service and valued being a citizen of this great country. He was a member of the Stevensville American Legion. Jay spent years as a quality manager in various manufacturing facilities in the area and was a long time member of the ASQC organization. Jay loved living in Southwest Michigan and enjoyed many activities including golf, woodworking and computer gaming. Jay will be greatly missed by his wife, Gerry (Rand) Sturgeon, three stepchildren, Bret Zimmerman, Wade Zimmerman and Lindsay Hunsberger, one grandchild, Alex Zimmerman, and his family in Springfield, OH. We were blessed with all those angels who helped Jay through his final days. Semper Fi, Jay!
