Gary's Obituary

Gary Thomas McCord, 73, passed away Friday, March 3 at his home surrounded by prayer. Gary was an active soldier for the Lord beginning with evangelism at a young age, later as a pastor and finally as a knowledgeable and articulate witness of the word. Gary was born in Hayti, Missouri July 14, 1937, the son of John Thomas and Violet McCord. He and his family relocated to Benton Harbor where Gary was raised and attended school. He, with his wife of 36 years Edna, resided in St. Joseph and were members of Road to Life Community Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Bayle McCord of St. Joseph and a large extended and caring family; daughters Debra McCord of Phoenix, AZ, Kathy McCord Roe and Belinda McCord Krainz both of Scottsdale, AZ and Terri McCord Leek of Mesa, AZ, Step-children Dawn Rowe of watervliet, Rhonda Shinault of Coloma and Richard Ketcham of Baroda. 8 beautiful grandchildren, two sisters, Patricia Ziems of St. Joseph, Carolyn McCord of St. Joseph, John Ray McCord of Texas and Jimmy Daryl of Virginia. Gary was preceded in glory by his son, Gary Thomas McCord Jr., his parents John and Violet McCord and his sister Barbara McCord. A memorial service will be held at Road to Life Community Church Monday March 8th at 1 PM. To all of those that knew him-whether ministers or laymen-he was a devoted Christion, a faithful friend, and a companion in labor for our Lord. “…He left nothing undone of all that the Lord commanded…”.
