St. Joseph, MI. – Lucille Virginia Garbuschewski, 87, of St. Joseph, MI., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, 245 W. Napier Ave., Benton Harbor, MI. A visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. The family has requested that all memorial contributions may be given to Napier Parkview Baptist Church.
Lucille was born on October 1, 1922 in Benton Harbor, MI to John E. and Olive (Prillwitz) Piedt. She later married Kurt Garbuschewski on October 14, 1950 in St. Joseph, MI. She was a volunteer with Lakeland Regional Medical Center for over 20 years and a life member and former Commander of the D.A.V. Auxillary. She also taught children's Bible School over the years and was an active member of the Fairplain Garden Club.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Kurt and her two daughters, Vicki (Kenneth) Behr of Stevensville, MI and LuAnne (Harold) Brooks of Edwardsburg, MI. She was also survived by her five grandchildren, Randy (Suzanne) Brooks, Ron (Kathy) Brooks, Andrea (Sam) Portwood, Joe (Melissa) Behr and Jamie (Steve) Bretveld and eight great grandchildren, Mandy, Greg, Ryan, Nicole, Brooke, Brittany, Micah and Macy.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, John and Olive and her two brothers, Vernon Piedt and Darrell Piedt.
