Ruth S. Mathieu

Ruth S. Mathieu, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, January, 15, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., in St. Joseph with Fr. Christopher Ankley officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may visit from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. Monday, January 18, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Ruth was born June 24, 1912 in Bainbridge Township, MI to John and Catherine (Sieber) Mathieu. She graduated from Bridgman High School. Ruth worked as a secretary for Superior Steal in Benton Harbor. In her later years Ruth moved to Burnett, Texas where she was a secretary for Fr. Donnley for many years before returning to St. Joseph. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, the lake and was involved with the church. Ruth is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Mathieu of Bridgman, MI; niece Judy Mathieu of Bridgman; nephews David (Mary) Mathieu of Menominee, MI, and Richard (Joy) Mathieu of Marshall, MI; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Ruth was preceded by her parents and brother J. Harold Mathieu.
