Arthur Strehlow, Jr.
St. Joseph, MI – Arthur Strehlow, 87 of St. Joseph, MI, passed away peacefully at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave., St. Joseph, MI. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. The arrangements are with Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Lutheran or Hospice at Home.
Arthur was born on June 21, 1922 in Eau Claire, MI to Arthur and Emily (Engle) Strehlow. He served in the United States Air Force as an air controller during World War II. He married Margaret S. Heyn on July 1, 1950 in Dowagiac, MI. His love was to listen to music and had won awards as a violinist in his youth. He retired from Whirlpool Corporation and was a member of the Whirlpool Old Timers.
Art is survived by his sister, Gladys Behnke of St. Joseph, his niece, Linda (Paul) Adam of St. Joseph and a nephew, Bruce (Bright) Behnke of Columbus, OH. He is survived by many other nieces, nephews, grandnephews and a grandniece. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emily and his wife, Margaret, who died in 1998.
