Anne Gavril

Anne Gavril, 92, of Benton Harbor, MI died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on February 20, 2010. The daughter of John and Melania Hook, she was born in Chicago, IL on December 7, 1917. She lived in the Benton Harbor area all her life and retired from Gast Manufacturing in 1980. She celebrated 50 years of marriage with Alphonso Gavril and together they raised three children. Her family includes her daughter, Anne Sila of St. Joseph, her sons, Richard Gavril of Park City, Utah and Jim (Laura) Gavril of Lansing, her granddaughter, Terri (Buddy) Springman of Benton Harbor, her grandson, Allan (Rhonda) Herman of Allen, TX, her sister-in-law, Lou Hook, and many nieces and nephews. She was affectionately known as GG to her four great granddaughters, Kelly Vega of St. Joseph, Christine Vega of Watervliet, Brianne Herman and Kirsten Herman of Allen, TX. She was blessed to welcome the arrival of her great great grandson, Parker. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alphonso, brothers Alex Hook and Nick Hook, and her sister Sophie Russell. Arrangements are being handled by Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home of St. Joseph, with a Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, 11:00am, February 23, 2010. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice At Home.
