Sophie Goldner

Sophie Goldner, 88, of St. Joseph passed away at her home on Sunday, March 28, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware, Benton Harbor officiated by Rev. William Jacobs, Jr. with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to Hospice at Home. Sophie was born on February 13, 1922 in Wauchula, Florida to Stephen and Catherine (Skoczylas) Zajac. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School. On July 6, 1940 she married Raymond Goldner in Roseland, IN. Sophie will be remembered for her love of people, family gatherings and spirited conversations. She had a great sense of humor, even through her last days prior to her passing. Her cooking was of special interest to her as well as being around family to enjoy her many and sometimes Polish meals. She delighted in attending all her grandchildren's activities and special events. She was always supportive and there for them. We will dearly miss our beautiful mother, grandmother and great grandmother's laughter, smile, and lovely spirit. She is survived by two daughters Judy (Robert) Cronk of St. Joseph and Janet Carlson of St. Joseph; five grandchildren Erik Carlson, Blake Carlson, Aron (Kirsten) Carlson, Courtney (Stephen) Pyatte, Laura (Mark) Datthyn; four great grand children Adelyn, Jake, Russell, Sloane; one sister Genevieve Wilcynski and a son–in-law David Randolph. She was preceded in death by her loyal and loving husband of 64 years Raymond on April 19, 2005 and her youngest daughter Karen Randolph on December 6, 2009.
