Phyllis W. Tegarden
ST. JOSEPH — Phyllis W. Tegarden passed away peacefully on March 2, 2010. She was born in St. Joseph on March 18, 1918, to Louis H. and Caroline M. Wille. She married John B. Lindenfeld on April 26, 1939, and they had four children. She was an active member of the St. Joseph Lianas Club from 1943 to 1979. She was also a faithful member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Her husband, John, died in 1969 and she later married Allen “Bud†Noreen in 1979.
They moved Mesa, Ariz., in 1979, and settled in Sunland Village where she had lived since 1980. She served on the executive board of Sunland Village for three years. Later she served as president of the Women's Club for two consecutive years. She was on the Sunland Journal staff and wrote articles for all the special events. She was the food editor for nine years and wrote the Cooking Corner column.
Following the death of Bud Noreen in 1981, she married B. F. Tegarden in 1982. They were married in All Saints Catholic Church where she had been active and supportive member.
She is survived by her four children, Carol Moore of Palm Desert, Calif., Janet Lindenfeld of Atlanta, Robert Lindenfeld (Jean) of Buffalo, N.Y., and James Lindenfeld (Kim) of Spring, Texas. She will be missed by her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. As a loving mother and grandmother she always remembered their special occasions, celebrations and holidays.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., in St. Joseph on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 9:30 A.M. and internment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph.
