Watervliet, MI – Robert Ferdinand Klug, 82, of Watervliet, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 10, 2010. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10:00am on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 E. Glenlord Road, St Joseph, MI. Burial will follow immediately at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph, MI. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
Bob was born on November 18, 1927 in Benton Harbor, MI to Ferdinand and Lizzie (Wenzlaff) Klug. He married Elsie Wiatrowsky on June 5, 1948. Bob was well known and highly respected as a farmer, businessman and entrepreneur. He was the founder of Klug Korners, (steel bulk box reinforcements), which can be found on bulk boxes across America yet today. Bob never met a stranger.
Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elsie, and his five children, Daniel (Margo Reynolds) Klug of Hartford, MI, Linda (Craig) Voorman of Hudson, OH, Karen (John) Barnes of Gillette, WY, John (Audrey Latus) Klug of South Lyon, MI, and Susan (Bradley) Harding of Mishawaka, IN. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren along with four siblings, Doris (George) Hultgren of Michigan City, IN, Edward (Shirley) Klug of St. Joseph, MI, Lorraine (Dawson) Derfelt of Henderson, NV and Eleanor (Herbert) Milnikel of Stevensville, MI.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Norman, Martin and Gerald Klug.
