Arthur A. Hora

Arthur “Sam” Hora Jr., 66, of Stevensville passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at his home. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Art was born April 3, 1943 in Baroda to Arthur H. & Mary L. (Ott) Hora. He attended St. Paul's Lutheran School, and Lakeshore High School, Class of 1961. Sam owned and operated Stevensville Glass Co. for many years, before accepting employment with Superior Snack & Vending Co. in Stevensville. It was from there that he retired in 2006 after 30 plus years of employment. On September 22, 1997, Sam married the former Janet Hile-Crousein Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stevensville and Sons of Stevensville American Legion Post #568. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR, Dale Jarrett being his favorite driver. Sam enjoyed his frequent trips to Las Vegas. Sam is survived by his wife Janet; his son Arthur A. Hora, II of Stevensville; his daughter Colleen Rosser of Stevensville; seven grandchildren-Kristina (Bobby) Allen, Casandra Hora, Arthur A. Hora, III, Zachary Gilfoyle, Vincent Gilfoyle, Olivia Gilfoyle, William Gilfoyle; four great-grandchildren-Breanna, Adriana, Dakota & William Allen; two sisters-Bonnie (Thomas) DeFroy of Kalamazoo, Connie K. Miller of Stevensville; eight nieces & nephews; and special friends-Art Jones of Stevensville, Ray Grassl of Stevensville, Carl Morris of South Haven, MI, and Wilson “Shunky” Shunkwiler of Florida.
