Irma's Obituary

St. Joseph, MI – Irma Louise McAdams, 88, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Georgetown Manor in Grand Rapids, following a short illness. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held the same day from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baruch Senior Ministries or the Parish Nurse Program of the United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. Irma was born on September 22, 1921 on a farm in Atlanta, IL, the daughter of Linus and Lena (Griffin) Voyles. She was always proud of her farm family roots and never lost their wholesome qualities. She was a homemaker and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In 1942, she married Paul McAdams, and they lived in Peoria, IL and Longview, TX before moving to St. Joseph in 1954, when Paul came to work for Clark Equipment Company in Benton Harbor. Irma and Paul were boaters for over 20 years, and later enjoyed their retirement on Lake Superior in Paradise, MI, where they had many friends. Irma was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph. She will be remembered for her positive attitude, her sense of humor, and her ability to find good in everyone. Irma is survived by her two children: Jan (Gary) Huttenstine of Paradise, MI and Dan (Mary) McAdams of Grand Rapids; four grandchildren: Mark Storms of Waldport, OR, Tracy (James) Methe of Englewood, CO, Paul (Laura) McAdams of Concord, NH and Grant McAdams of Grand Rapids; and two great grandchildren: Will Methe and Holly Methe, both of Englewood, CO. She is also survived by her sister Verna (Ike) Atteberry of Beason, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul McAdams in 1991; three sisters: Bernadine Montgomery, Mildred Donnan and Ilene Southern; and a brother, Wayne Voyles.
