Rose's Obituary

Rose Hultgren, 79, of Benton Harbor, passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2010 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home with Fr. William Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may call from 5:00 til 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to St. John/St. Bernard Parish. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mrs. Hultgren was born June 30, 1930 in Benton Harbor to Anthony & Anna (Marsala) Lomonaco. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1947 and married Roland Hultgren on March 22, 1949 in Chicago. Rose was employed at St. Joseph City Hall as secretary to Pat Phelan, St. Joseph City Clerk, retiring in 1981. Rose was a member of St. John/St. Bernard Parish. She loved tending to her flower & vegetable gardens, cooking, and entertaining her family for the holidays, especially for Thanksgiving. Rose is survived by her son Fred (Tammy) Hultgren of Stevensville, her daughter Kathy Baiers of St. Joseph; two grandchilderen-Mark Hultgren of Tampa, FL, Molly Baiers of Howell, MI; her brother Phillip (Barbara) Lomonaco of Benton Harbor; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roland in September, 1988, and by two brothers- Joseph & Paul Lomonaco, and by her sister Mary Lomonaco.
