Jan Depuydt

Jan Depuydt, 83, of Benton Harbor, passed away December 31, 2009 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph With Fr. William Jacobs officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Humane Society. Those wishing to sign the memory book on line may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jan was born January 13, 1926 in Wilryck, Belgium to Sir Jean Henri & Alice (Kochuyt) Depuydt. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Engineering. On April 11, 1953 he married Maria Will in Delaware Ontario Canada. Jan worked as a Service Engineer for Clark Equipment for 25 years. Jan was a volunteer for the Easter Seals, Lakeland Hospital and the Veterans Hospital. In his spare time he enjoyed working on cars and was an avid race fan. Jan is survived by his wife Maria Depuydt of Benton Harbor; daughter Lona (Phil) Demoro of Paris, France; son Jan Jeffery (Cathy) Depuydt of Blandon, PA; daughter Amy (Michael) Roti of Eau Clair, MI; daughter Betsy Ann Depuydt of Baroda; MI; nine grandchildren Bonnie, Ben, Brendan, and Brianna McCann, Jennifer, Heather, Amanda, Mackenzie Depuydt, and Tory Roti; Jan was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lea, and niece Susan.
