Paul's Obituary

Paul W. Suchovsky, 95, of St. Joseph, formerly of Muskegon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Dr. Martin Luther Evangical Lutheran Church, 1860 E. Hile Rd., Muskegon, MI with Pastor Dennis Stroh officiating with a funeral luncheon at the church to follow. Visitations will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085 and Tuesday, January 12 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at Sytsema Funeral Home, Lee Chapel, 6921 Harvey St., Muskegon, MI. Interment will be at Mona View Cemetery in Muskegon Heights. Memorials may be made to Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church. Those wishing to sign the Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Suchovsky was born on February 10, 1914 in Coolville, OH to John and Katherine (Michalec) Suchovsky. He graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and married Rose (Praskac) Todd on May 15, 1946 in Muskegon Heights, MI. Together, they raised a son, Edward. Paul was the owner of Port City Candy and Tobacco in Muskegon Heights for several years. Afterwards, he opened up West Michigan Wholesale in Dowagiac and St. Joseph. Paul was an investor of the Shoreham Assisted Living in St. Joseph. In his later years, he operated Hilltop Garden Center. Paul was a lifelong member of Dr. Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Muskegon. His sister-in-law, Christine took very special care of Paul during his later years. He will be missed by his family and his caregivers very much. Paul is survived by his son, Edward Todd (Debra Glover) of Muskegon; a brother, Carl (Lou) Suchovsky of Muskegon; Sister-In-Law, Christine Praskac of St. Joseph; Special Caregivers, Maria Bailey and Gwen Trousdale. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose on February 17, 1988, a brother John in 1963 and his parents, John and Katherine.
