Eula Marie DeFries

Benton Harbor, MI – Eula Marie DeFries, 91, of Benton Harbor, MI, passed away at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 7, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer Associaton. Eula was born on February 19, 1918 in Hollywood, MO to Walter and Bessie (Kinchen) Coburn. She married Jim DeFries on March 31, 1936 in Cardwell, MO. She was the owner of Eula's Beauty Salon since 1968. She also worked for Voice of Music for 26 years. She was a gift that was cherished by all her family. Her joy for life and love of God will be sorely missed. Eula is survived by her two daughters, Diana Hale of Benton Harbor and Joyce Cushing of Utah and one son, Jack DeFries of Marcellus, MI. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, Walter and Bessie, a son, Jimmie Dale DeFries, two brothers and three sisters.
