Lillyan Barry, 87, of Benton Harbor passed away November 26, 2009 at Caretel Inns of Lakeland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Monday, November 30, 2009 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 555 Delaware in Benton Harbor with Fr. William J. Jacobs, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. with the rosary recited at 5:30 P.M. at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Lillyan was born June 13, 1922 in Bridgman, MI to Fredrick & Hannah (Kepp) Hemming. She graduated from Bridgman High School. On November 5, 1949 Lillyan married William Barry, Jr. at St. John Catholic Church in Benton Harbor. She was an active member of St. John/St. Bernard Parish. Lillyan worked as an accountant for Phillips Engineering in St. Joseph for many years. Lillyan was volunteer for the Lakeland Auxiliary for 30 years and for the Lift Program for Benton Harbor Public Schools. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Barry is survived by two sons Michael (Linda) Barry of Traverse City, MI and John (Theresa) Barry of Orange, CT; daughter Patricia (William) Lint of Saugatuck, MI; six grandchildren Amy C. Drake, Adam (Lisa) Drake, Rachel Barry, Sarah Barry, Shawn Barry and Meghan Barry. Mrs. Barry was preceded in death by her parents Fredrick & Anna Hemming; husband William Barry, Jr.; one brother; and six sisters.
