Darrel E. Klug

Darrel Erich Klug, 46 of Buchanan passed away peacefully Thursday morning Christmas Eve December 24, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital – St. Joseph, after a long illness. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora, 1733 Glendora Road, Buchanan officiated by Rev. Thomas R. Brazinsky, with burial to follow at Weesaw Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Church or Berrien County Youth Fair. Friends wishing to send a condolence may do so at the memory book at www.starks-menchinger.com Darrel was born on July 23, 1963 in St. Joseph Michigan to Arnold C. and Mildred A. (Steinke) Klug. He was baptized on August 25, 1963 and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran of Glendora on May 1, 1977. He was a graduate of River Valley High School in 1981 and also received a degree in Machine Tool Technology and Electronics from Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac. He worked at various places in the area but his last job was at YMCA of St. Joseph. He was a volunteer for the Ag Olympics and in the flower building at the Berrien County Youth Fair. He was an active member at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora and enjoyed working with the sound system. He also enjoyed working with wood, metals, electronics, on his car and liked to swim. Darrel is survived by his parents Arnold C. and Mildred A. Klug of Buchanan; a brother Brian (Vicky) Klug of Arlington TX; sister Irene (Todd) Gerwig of Jackson WI; three nephews Neil and Neven Klug and Tyler Gerwig; two nieces Kelsey and Carissa Gerwig; two step nephews Rizaldy and Ryan Lugto. Preceded in death by his grandparents August and Mary Klug and Erich and Alice Steinke.
