Betty's Obituary

Baroda, MI – Betty R. Kessler, 70, of Baroda, MI, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. A celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, 3003 Leco Ct.., St. Joseph; MI. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman. The visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Betty was born on November 6, 1939 to George and Myrtle Appleby in New Albany, IN. She later married Jack Edward Kessler on September 8, 1961 in New Albany. Betty was the constant travel companion to her husband, first living in Biloxi, MS, then Petersburg, VA while her husband fulfilled his military obligation. Returning to the midwest and the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph area, Betty became involved in various functions in her church. At home, she enjoyed sewing for her grandchildren, and was involved with various craft projects over the years. And she loved to feed the birds and squirrels that came so frequently to visit. Betty is survived by her husband, Jack and two daughters, Tracey (David) Thompson of Renton, WA and Terrie (Gerald) Tomaszewski of St. Joseph, MI. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amanda (Joshua) Hofert, Nicholas Tomaszewski, Zachary Tomaszewski and Lucas Tomaszewski and one brother, Frank Appleby. Betty was preceded in death by her father George, her mother, Myrtle and several brothers and sisters.
