Verna's Obituary

Benton Harbor, MI – Verna Ruth (Graddy) Sisk, 89, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, and her beloved husband on Friday, December 18, 2009, surrounded by her devoted family. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. – St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from noon until 1:00 p.m. Verna was born to Eugene and Nora (Qualls) Graddy, on August 19, 1920 in Evening Shade, Arkansas. She married the love of her life, James L. Sisk on December 2, 1938 in Black Oak, Arkansas. She enjoyed quilting, canning, collecting recipes and planting flowers and vegetables in her garden. Mother stood for honesty, integrity and was a loving and kind spirit. She loved and respected everyone that came into contact with her, especially her family. Verna is survived by her six children, James (Joyce) Sisk; Eugene (Judy) Sisk; Lonnie (Sandy) Sisk; Lou Ann (Jerry) McGregor; Barbara (Dick) Grande and Veda (Michael) Orosz, along with 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Betty Sisk; three siblings, Robert, Lillian and Homer; one grandson, Phillip and two great grandchildren, Denise and Jesse.
