James Wainscott

James W. Wainscott, 85, of Stevensville, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. Memorial service will be held at 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Rd. in Stevensville with Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. James “Joe” was born March 21, 1924 in Sharon, TN, to Finis & Mandy (Howell) Wainscott. After graduating high school James served his country in the Navy during World War II. On February 4, 1950 he married Betty Watson. James worked for Holloway Construction Co. in Wixom, MI as a supervisor for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. James is survived by his wife Betty of Stevensville; children Nancy (Ronald) Russell of New Jersey, Teresa Wainscott (Daniel Hearld) of Grand Rapids, MI, Jonathon “David” Wainscott of Davison, MI, and Mary (Steve) Slavicek of Stevensville; seven grandchildren Jennifer (James) Kirsch, Melissa (Noah) Ditto, Daniel Russell, Zeth Hearld, Sarah (Adam) Tate, Emily Slavicek, and Elizabeth Slavicek; two great grandchildren Mackenzie and Madyson Kirsch. In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his four brothers and two sisters.
