Clifford “Steve” McQuown, 69, of St. Joseph passed away at his home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI with Pastor Kevin MacClemore officiating. Friends may visit with the family before the service on Saturday from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of SW Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Steve was born on August 3, 1940 to Clifford and Harriett (Peiper) McQuown in Cedar Rapids, IA. After nearly finishing college, Steve joined the U.S. Army to serve his country. He worked at the Herald Palladium Newspaper in St. Joseph for 35 years as a copy editor. Steve raised two daughters, Jill and Jodi. He loved cooking, writing and making greeting cards for his daughters. Steve was known for his sense of humor and he always had a joke for everyone he met. Steve is survived by his daughters, Jill (John) Moxley of Evans, GA and Jodi (Todd) Hammond of Coloma, MI; his mother, Harriett McQuown of Crofton, MD; three grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Jackson; two brothers, Ed McQuown of Crofton, MD and David (Mary) McQuown of Ann Arbor, MI and several nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford.
