David's Obituary

David J. Page, 59, of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those wishing to send memorials may make them out to the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen or Berrien County Cancer Service. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. David was born on November 20, 1949 to Lester E. and Barbara (Warnock) Page in Benton Harbor, MI. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1968 and participated in choir and drama (in leading roles in three plays). As a football player, he was “All Conference” as a junior on both defense and offence as a line man and was “Most Valuable Player” as a senior. David graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Art degree in 1972 and at Wayne State Law School with a Juris Doctorate degree in 1976. He also received a C.P.A. Certificate in 1976. David was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan on November 19, 1976 and was sworn in by Hon. Chester J. Byrns. David married Vickie on January 1, 1992 in Benton Harbor. Together, they raised a daughter, Nikki Blue Page. David and Vickie owned and operated Vickie’s Sandbar in St. Joseph for 12 years. David officiated Varsity and Junior Varsity Football for 22 years. David loved playing pool and was an avid golfer. He was also a die-hard University of Michigan Wolverine fan through and through. He will be known as a great husband, father and friend. David’s loss will forever be remembered by all those lives that he has touched. David is survived by his wife, Vickie (Kiser) Page; a daughter, Nikki Blue Page; stepchildren, Chad Davidson, Amber (Dwane) Newton; parents, Lester E. and Barbara W. Page of Benton Harbor; a brother, Lester E.(Sandy) Page, Jr. of Stevensville; a sister, Dr. Barbara Ann Page (Roger Prior) of Richland, MI; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
