Eleanor's Obituary
Eleanor C. (Fellner) VanHoeven, 84, of St. Joseph, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 03, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 6, 2009 at St. Peters Church, 623 Church St., St. Joseph, MI with Rev. Catherine Balk officiating. Interment will be held at Riverview Cemetery at a later date. Friends wishing to visit with the family may do so from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
Eleanor was born on June 6, 1925 to August and Elsie (Kesterke) Fellner in Benton Harbor, MI. She was employed at Imperial Printing for many years. She married the love of her life, Robert James VanHoeven on May 3, 1947 at St. Peters Church in downtown St. Joseph. Eleanor was long time parishioner of St. Peters Church. She was a voracious reader and avid doll collector. She loved Shirley Temple, garage sales and Walt Disney. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grand daughter.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Linda Delpozzo, Debbie (Mike) Hess, Scott VanHoeven, all of St. Joseph; her grand children, Dr. Amy (Daniel) Koppenhoefer of South Lyon, MI, Adam (Katie) Hess of St. Joseph, Aaron (Megan) Hess of Rochester Hills, MI, Robert Delpozzo of St. Joseph; her great grand daughter, Hailey Hess; her brother, George (Fran) Krugh of Stevensville, MI; her sister-in-law, Irene “Snookie”Fellner of St. Joseph and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert in September of 1976; her brother, Robert Fellner in April 2005 and her parents, August and Elsie.
