George was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph High School, playing football, basketball and tennis and named “the most likeable personalityâ€. George served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. George maintained an active optometric practice with his brother Robert in downtown St. Joe and Hartford for over 50 years. George enjoyed a long and happy retirement of golf, world travel and cheering for the Cubs, always surrounded by his loving family. He was content with his life well lived.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy, three children: Tom, Sally, and Jim; son-in-law Richard Rendell, and nine grandchildren: Benjamin, AnnaMalia, Evan, Andrew, Ethan, Alexander, Abbe, Jeff and Jamie and his little dog, Katie III.
