Donna M. Cooper

Donna M. Cooper, 73, of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 9:00 A.M. Saturday, October 24, 2008 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4333 Cleveland Ave, in Stevensville with Pastor Martin Measel officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 23, 2009 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd. Donna was born August 18, 1936 in her home in Royalton Township to Phillip & Elizabeth (Schuck) Johannes. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1954. Donna worked for St. Joseph Public Schools and Christ Lutheran Church as a Secretary for many years. Donna loved her children and grandchildren. In her spare time she loved playing on her computer and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Phillip & Elizabeth (Schuck) Johannes; brother Robert Johannes; sisters Phyllis Phillips and Sally Mourer. Donna leaves behind her husband Frederick Cooper of St. Joseph; daughter Beth (Cooper) Smith and husband Charles Smith of St. Joseph, MI; their children Charles Smith II his wife Casey (Trowbridge) Smith of Baroda, MI, and Daniel Smith of St. Joseph; son F. John Cooper and wife Jennifer (Freer) Cooper of Stevensville, MI; their children, Phillip, Bradley and Brennan Cooper of Stevensville; foster sister Louise Young of Pickens, South Carolina and special friend Bertha Briney of Benton Harbor, MI.
