Ronald Arent

Ron Arent, 63, of Berrien Springs, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 3351 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Rev. Richard Sing officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Run Cemetery in Scottdale. Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Family. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Mr. Arent was born October 17, 1945 in Watervliet to Bertrand & Violet (Cowgill) Arent. He graduated from Watervliet High School in 1964. Ron was employed at Gast Manufacturing Co. in Benton Harbor, retiring in February 2008 after 35 years. On October 21, 1995, he married the former Linda Bush Hostetler in Hudson Lake, Indiana. Ron was a member of Twelve Corners Community Church in Benton Harbor, St. Joe Valley Old Engine Association – and a former member of the Fly Wheelers Tractor Club. He enjoyed farming, working on his tractors, his HO scale trains, and hunting & fishing. Ron cherished the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ron is survived by his wife Linda; his children-Dianna (Lee) Snyder of Clinton, Iowa, Jennifer Arent of Baroda, Ronald B. Arent, II at home, Charlotte Hart of Benton Harbor, Amie (David) Risner of Hamlet, IN, Calvin Hostetler of South Bend, IN, Cecil (Dawn) Hostetler of Lake Station, IN; seven grandchildren; brothers & sisters-Grace (Dick) Drew of East Lake, OH, Shirley Head of Glendale, AZ, Laura (Dennis) Klug of Surprise, AZ, Dan (Darlene) Arent of Eau Claire, Calvin (Donna) Arent of Eau Claire, Dawn (Mike Whitehead) Arent of Watervliet; and many nieces & nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his motherViolet in 1982, his father Bertrand in 2007, and two infant daughters.
