Shirley M. Ward

Shirley M. Ward, 73, of St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009 at Lakeland Continuing Care in St. Joseph. A private burial will follow at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indiana. Mrs. Ward was born July 20, 1936 in La Fountaine, IN to Earl & Ruth (Hauphtoff) Luckey. Shirley graduated from Warren High School in Indiana. In June of 1976 she married William Ward. Shirley was a seamstress for Butterworth Industries for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed volunteering at Lakeland Continuing Care was a member of the Red Hat Society and worked at Don’s Tap in Marion, Indiana every Friday night for many years. Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter Sueann Miller of Claypool, IN; two grandchildren Logan Miller and Hunter Ellsworth of Claypool, IN; three brothers Richard (Delores) Luckey of Lexington, OH., Larry (Joyce) Luckey of Marion, IN., and Jack (Diane) Luckey of Warren, IN; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her husband William Ward.
