Armenda's Obituary

Armenda I. Moore, 90, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, September 14, 2009 at her home. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday at Coloma Cemetery with Pastor Jon Rosengren officiating. Friends may call from 11:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. Friday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Coloma Seventh-day Adventist Church. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Armenda was born January 11, 1919 in Rector, Arkansas to Edward & Hattie (Patterson) Floyd. On November 11, 1939, she married William H. Moore in Caruthersville, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 7, 2000. Armenda was a member of the Coloma Seventh-day Adventist Church. She had a very giving heart-always willing to help those in need. Armenda enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, word search and brain teaser puzzles, and collector plates. She was an Elvis fan and enjoyed Shirley Temple movies and Gone with the Wind. Armenda is survived by her children-Barbara Summerfelt of Wixom, MI, Richard Moore of Miramar, Florida, Audie (Sylvia) Moore of Benton Harbor, David Moore of AZ, Gregory Moore of Coloma ; eight grandchildren-Marc, Lance, Cory, Joshua, Anthony, Gisa, Jessie & Christy; eight great-grandchildren; her brother Duane (Mildred) Floyd of Kalamazoo; and several nieces & nephews including Herbert Fairbanks of Benton Harbor. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death two sons-Walter & James Moore, three grandchildren-Crystal Moore in 1980, Anjanette Sayre in 1987, Derrick Moore in 2002, by four brothers & one sister, and a niece Norma Jean Fairbanks in 2007.
