Jane Walker Evans

Jane Walker Evans, 68, of Sodus, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Best Friends 4-H Club. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jane was born December 19, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Donald & Estelle (Fisher) Walker. She graduated from South Haven High School in 1959 and attended Alma College. Jane was the office manager for Lovejoy, Inc. in South Haven for many years. She was the co-founder of Best Friends 4-H Club and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jane is survived by her three children Janet (Jim) Birch of St. Joseph, Nance Bednarski of Ypsilanti, and Doug (Mikala) Evans of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren Nicole, Josh, Matt, Sydney, Alex, Kaitlynn, and Danielle; two sisters Kathy Manning of Coloma and Sally (David) Durand of Houston TX and many nieces and nephews around the world. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Margie Williams.
