Ruth's Obituary

Ruth E. Moler, 83, of Benton Harbor passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in the presence of her family at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI 49085 with Rev. Ronald Simcox of Lifegate Baptist Church officiating. Friends may gather with the family prior to the service from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M at the funeral home. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lifegate Baptist Church, Eau Claire. Those wishing to send the family condolences or sign the guestbook online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Ruth was born on December 12, 1925 to William and Christina (Darmstadter) Nernberg in Moundridge, KS. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1943. Ruth married the love of her life, Marvin Moler, in 1946 in St. Joseph and together raised a son, David and a daughter, Christine. She was proud to be an original “Sand Rabbit” of Silver Beach. Ruth loved photography and was a charter member of Twin City Camera Club in St. Joseph. She was an avid reader, shopper and gardener. Most of all, Ruth loved spending time with her family. Ruth is survived by her son, David Moler of Galien and daughter, Christine Moler of Benton Harbor who attended to her every need; grandsons, Jim (Deana) Moler of Edwardsburg, MI, Andy (Jenifer) Moler of Maryville, IN, David Kiste, Jr., of Niles; eight great grandchildren, Jamilynn, Susan, Alexis, Kirin, Paige, Hannah, Daniel and Christopher; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers Susan Githri & Barb Reibel and friends too numerous to mention. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Marvin; and her parents, William and Christina.
