Lee H. Karsen

Lee's Obituary

Lee H. Karsen passed away on April 4, 2008 with his wife and two sons at his bedside. Son of Harold and Edna (Hermann) Karsen. Lee was born on November 22, 1921. He graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School. From Kalamazoo College he served in the Navy for 3 1/2 years. While in Washington D.C. with the Navy Department Bureau of Ships. He had also attended O.C.S. at Harvard and S.W. Louisiana University. It was through a friend that he met his future wife of 63 years, Margaret (Peg) Kuntz of Washington D.C. They were married in January 1946 and lived in Toledo. Upon graduating from Bowling Green State University, he decided to return to St. Joseph and join his father in running the Ford dealership – Karsen Motor Sales. He enjoyed music and played in the band. Lee was an avid golfer and played until he became ill. He was a member of Berrien Hills Country Club for 51 years; First Congregational Church and The Elks. At his request – no visitation nor service at this time. An interment will occur at a later date at Riverview Cemetery In addition to his wife, he leaves a son Jeff of St. Joseph, son Christopher (Melanie) in Virginia Beach, V.A., two grandchildren, Megan and Michael, a brother-in-law, Bob (Betty) Kuntz in Allentown, PA and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he was very close to. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Congregational Church in St. Joseph.
