Anne Morrissett, nee: Stubblefield, died Sunday, April 06, 2008 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church St., St. Joseph. Private Burial will follow the mass at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Birthright of St. Joseph or Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. Mrs. Morrissett was born in Nanking, China on March 16, 1923 and came to St. Joseph as a young girl with her sister Sally and parents, Helen (Follett) and John S. Stubblefield. She attended Barnard College as an undergraduate and served as an aerial artillery training sergeant with the United States Marine Corps. during World War II. While attaining a Master of Arts degree from Johns Hopkins University, she met and married Marion P. Morrissett, a Navy veteran employed at the Veterans’s Administration. They were married on June 11, 1949 in Baltimore, MD. Returning to St. Joseph to raise their six children, Anne became an educator and her husband worked for Whirlpool Corporation. She was pre-deceased by her husband and son Michael in the mid-1970s, both parents and her sister Sally Acker. She is survived by children Roger Morrissett, Mary Martin, David Morrissett, Helen Marzke and Nancy Kiernan. Her grandchildren who will miss her dearly are; Katie and Rachel Morrissett; Helen, Bridget, Alice and Blanche Kiernan; Natalie, Christa and Annie Marzke; and Michael Stueland.
