Grace L. Marshall

Grace L. Marshall, 91, of St. Joseph, passed away at Whitcomb Tower Retirement Residence on Sunday, April 6, 2008. A Celebration of her Life Service will be at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd; St. Joseph with Pastor Wade Panse of St. Joseph First United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation will be at 10-11:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Private burial at Crystal Springs. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice. Those wishing to send a condolence message online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Grace was born on March 20, 1917 to Samuel J. and Anna (Umphrey) Marshall in St. Joseph, Michigan. She was one of six children. Grace graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1935. She was a Secretary with Michigan Bell Telephone Company until retiring in 1977. After retirement, she was a very proud volunteer with Lakeland Hospital logging in over 24,000 hours at the gift shop or in the office. Grace was an avid reader and loved to croquet afghans blankets and clothing for her dolls. Her special niece, Kathy Campbell, was her caretaker for many years. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Laura B. Helmold, Lloyd “Red” Marshall, Wilma M. Shoup, LouAlice Igert, Benjamin Marshall and Samuel J. Marshall, Jr.
