STEVENSVILLE – Arthur E. Siewert, 95, of Stevensville, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2007, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph. A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Road, Stevensville, with Pastor Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow in Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Arthur was born on November 21, 1911, in Stevensville, to William and Emma (Kruger) Siewert on the family farm. On November 21, 1936, he married Rose Obendorfer in Stevensville. He was a successful farmer who raised blueberries and grapes. He was a life-long member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. He held many offices in the church, sang in the church choir, and played on the dart ball team. For 15 years, Arthur was a Lincoln Township Trustee. As a trustee, he was a member of the original Tri-Unit Fire Department Board. Art and Rose loved to spend their winters in Leesburg, Fla., at the Chain of Lakes Trailer Park. During their time there, he loved to play cards and shuffle board. Arthur is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rose Siewert; a son, Dale (Carol) Siewert; a daughter, Geraldine (Edward) Klug; three grandchildren, Jayne Bannan, Joanne Sweet, and Joseph Klug; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward Siewert; and two sisters, Frances Siewert and Lydia Rochau.
