Robert's Obituary

Robert “Bob” Douglas Hines, Sr., 73, of Stevensville, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2006, at his home surrounded by his family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Monday, November 20, 2006, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph with Rev. Marlo Fritzke officiating. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 3-6 P.M., on Sunday, November 19, 2006, at the funeral home. Bob was born to Robley and Vera (Walters) (Simpson) Hines on May 10, 1933 in Oklahoma City, OK. In 1942 Bob and his family moved to Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. In 1953 he married the love of his life Mary Ann Cozzolino in Benton Harbor. He ran the main garage at Auto Specialties in St. Joseph for 33 years. Bob enjoyed going to operas, fishing in upper Michigan and traveling with his wife. He was a gentle person who put others before himself his whole life. Bob was a self taught engineer who could do anything. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; children, Cynthia (Brian) Bennett of Sawyer, MI, Laurie (Robert) Dietz of Stevensville, Robert (Susan DePelecyn) Hines, Jr. of Racine, WI, Kelly Stroup of Lakeland, FL and Jeffrey (Amy) Hines of Niles, MI; grandchildren, Jonathan (Roxanne) Gothberg, Matthew (Heather) Gothberg, Gregory Gothberg, Jessica (Santiago) Belmontes, Michael Smith, Collin Stroup and Zachary and Natalie Hines; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Belmontes, and Emily, Logan, Kiaha and Penelope Gothberg; sisters, Jesse Kissell of Benton Harbor, Betty Sorrell of Muskegon, MI and Peggy (Jerry) Hoffman of Hartford, MI; brother, James Simpson of Hartford, MI; mother-in-law, Mary Cozzolino of Stevensville, brothers-in-law, William Wilson of Grand Rapids, MI, Enrico (Linda) Cozzolino of Niles, MI, Rocco (Arlene) Graziano of Stevensville and Michael (Ursula) Rodgers of Stevensville; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Hines and sister, Patsy Wilson.
