Gordon's Obituary

Gordon Winfield Bivens, 74, of Lawrence, MI, passed away Monday, November 11, 2013, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 10 A.M. until 12 P.M. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St. Dowagiac. The service will immediately follow the visitation, and begin at noon, with James Schwake officiating. Memorials may be made to the family. Those wishing to leave a memory online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Gordon was born in Ishpeming, MI, on April 9, 1939, to Charles & Stella (Baker) Bivens. He was a professional logger for the majority of his life, and spent a great deal of time in Wisconsin and Minnesota in the forests logging. Gordon enjoyed working very much, taking drives, fishing, working on cars, and telling stories. Gordon is survived by his daughter Cheryl (Thomas Rose) Bivens, of Lawrence, MI; four grandchildren, Gordon Schultz, Ernest Lucia, Samantha Lucia, & Lewis Williams; seven siblings, Nancy Ketchum, Charlotte Bivens, Minnie Barnes, Eunice Schwake, Christine Mannisto, Gloria Kossows, & Kenny Bivens, his honorary daughter, Sharon Dorman-Lucia, of Duluth, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ernest Bivens.
