Alice's Obituary
Alice Carver, 82, of St. Joseph, passed away September 26, 2006 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, September 29, at 7:00 PM at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held two hours prior, from 5-7 PM, at the funeral home. Memorials in her name can be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Alice was born February 1, 1924 in St. Joseph to George & Clara (Newton) Runge. On October 15, 1949, she married her husband William, who precedes her. Alice devoted her life to making and keeping a loving home for her family. She gave unselfishly of herself as a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were growing up. She was also actively involved with the Krasel Art Center, and the Twin City Players. Alice loved to sing in her church choir and was responsible for starting the Food in Crises program at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughters Janice Carver, Pegge (Neil) Taylor and Julianne Thieleman; her grandchildren Mindy and Kirsten Taylor, and Tyler and Megan Thieleman; her sister Charlotte Marsh; six nephews and three nieces. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by twin brothers – Leonard & Lawrence Runge.
