Helen Mae Baker, 82, formerly of Sodus, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2006 at Countryside Nursing Home in South Haven.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 14 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3713 Naomi Road, in Sodus, with Rev. Robert Duehlmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma. Friends may visit with the family from 10-11 A.M. Monday at the church. The Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church. Helen was born May 2, 1924 in Benton Harbor. She was one of five children born to Edward and Helen Neubauer. She was a lifetime resident of Sodus. On October 18, 1943 she married Norman Loren Baker. Together they had four children. Helen was always known as an outgoing and kind hearted neighbor and was well liked by everyone who knew her. She loved to cook and enjoyed sharing food with others. She was a member of Sodus Lutheran Church for over 45 years.
She is survived by her children, David Baker of Berrien Springs, Cheryl(Wayne) Karn of Battle Creek, Michael (Judy) Baker of Hartford, and Nancy (Harvey) Sells of Coloma; her grandson, Christopher Sells; and by her brother, Richard (Elvern) Neubauer of Benton Harbor.
