Edward's Obituary

Rev. Edward S. Marks, 86, of Bridgman, went to meet his Lord & Savior on Friday, August 18, 2006, at Lakeland Regional Hospital, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday at the First Assembly of God, 3084 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Dan Miller & Pastor Glen Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman, with graveside military rites conducted by Coloma American Legion Post #362, VFW Post #1137 of Benton Harbor, and VFW Post #6803 of Watervliet. Friends may call from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Memorial may be made to the donor’s choice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guest book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Rev. Marks was born August 21, 1919 in Dowagiac, Michigan. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1937. Edward served his country in the United States Army during WWII, serving as a medic and later as a clerk. He graduated from Great Lakes Bible Institute in 1949. Rev. Marks was the founding pastor of the Manistee Assembly of God in Manistee, served several churches in Indiana and Michigan, during which time he traveled to many foreign countries spread the Gospel of the Lord. Rev. Marks retired in March of 2003 from the Life Tabernacle in East Lansing after 60 plus years in the ministry. Edward enjoyed the out of doors, being in the sunshine, and working in the yard, but his passion was still for doing the Lord’s work in the ministry. On June 20, 2001, he married the former Rita Redding in Rogers, Arkansas. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Rev. Marks is survived by his wife Rita; eight children-Roger T. Marks of Garden Grove, CA, Rebecca C. (Roger) Markwald of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Terry S. (Marcia) Marks of Gowen, MI, Yvonne M. (Michael) Holliday of Covina, CA, Susan K. (Michael) Fraticelli of Collinsville, IL, Debra E. (Stephen) Beckman of Naples, FL, Kellie M. (Tim) Newman of Atlanta, GA, John W. (Cynthia) Petrosky of New Lenox, IL; twenty grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Robert Marks in January 2005.
