Frieda Karolina Suess

Frieda K. Suess, 93, of St. Joseph, MI, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Arrangements have been entrusted with Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2:00 p.m., at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI, with Rev. Otto Sommerfeld officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the German Church of God, St. Joseph, MI, of which she was a member. Frieda was born February 19, 1913, in Rotenfels, Germany, to Konrad and Karolina (Fuettterer) Dony. She lived in Germany until her husbands death in 1971, then coming to the USA in 1972. Her husband, Erwin, and Frieda were married in Rotenfels, Germany in 1939. Frieda is survived by two daughters, Anita (Rudi) Haehnel of Germany, and Annelore James of Trinidad, West Indies; a son-in-law, Helmar Herzog – whom she lived with in St. Joseph, MI; three grandchildren, Patrick (Heidi) Herzog of Kalamazoo, MI, Jeanie (Thomas, III) Sowell of San Antonio, TX, and Betina Haehnel of Germany; and two great grandchildren, Thomas, IV and Cody Sowell. She is preceded in death by her parents-Konrad and Karolina, her husband-Erwin, and a son-Erwin.
