Oral M. Mcnees

Oral Merriett “Sonny” Mc Nees, Jr., 60, of St. Joseph, passed away at his home Sunday, July 16, 2006. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00A.M., Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, MI. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family between 6 and 9 P.M., Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Oral was born September 26, 1945 in Benton Heights. He was one of four children born to Oral, Sr. and Betty Jane McNees. Oral had six children. He was a longtime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints in BH. In his free time he enjoyed bowing, golf, fishing and coin collecting. He also enjoyed watching old movies including Westerns and war movies. He was an avid Star-Trek fan. Most of all, Oral enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Oral is survived by Betsy Ross and their six children, Korey (Carol Ann) Mc Nees of Rochester, NY, Holly (Mark) Carter of Grand Haven, MI, Eric Mc Nees of Florida, Hannah Mc Nees of St. Joseph, Mathilde (Jasen) Stone of Grand Rapids, and Noelle (Richard) Klienfelter of Louisville, KY; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Donald Mc Nees of Vicksburg, MI; his sister, Virginia Hamilton of Watervliet; and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oral, Sr. and Betty Mc Nees; and by his sister, Peggy Barry.
