Elzie's Obituary
Elzie’s life began on May 23, 1931 in Caraway, AR, the son of Claude and Dolly (Dykes) Casey. He was united in marriage to Martha Sue Williams on June 25, 1954 in Indiana. He worked at Sollit Construction Company in South Bend as the General Superintendent retiring in 1974 and in 1975 he owned and operated Sandy Acres Farm & Feed Store. He was a member of Local #13 A.F.L.C.I.O. carpenters & joiners union in South Bend. He lived his life for his family, talking with people and customers in the store, working at the store and building houses. His family includes his son Duane (Pam) Casey of Dowagiac, 2 grandchildren: Landon (Bobbie) Casey of Belleview, MI, Carrie Sandberg of Dowagiac, MI, 5 great grandchildren: Khylie, Collen, Austin, Sara, and Adam, 3 sisters: Clara Bickford of Oregon, Patty Ann Schroeder of Rimrock, AR, and Betty Kilian of Parker, AR, also numerous nieces and nephews. Elzie passed away Thursday September 26, 2013 at his son’s home. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Louise Shout, and three brothers James, Leo and Coy Casey. His family will gather with friends on Wednesday October 2, 2013 from 10:00am until time of the funeral service at Noon at Victory Tabernacle Church, 33440 Middle Crossing Rd., Dowagiac, MI. He will be laid to rest next to his wife at South Union Cemetery in Berrien Center, MI. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s choice.
