Margaret's Obituary

Margaret Ann Schaus, 85, of Stevensville, went to meet her Lord & Savior on Tuesday, August 08, 2006 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph. A Celebration of Life Eternal will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, with Rev. Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8 P.M. Thursday at Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Mrs. Schaus was born July 31, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to William & Minnie (Siewert) Ott, Sr. Margaret graduated from Stevensville High School, Class of 1939, and attended business college in South Bend. In May of 1941, she married Floyd R. Schaus. Margaret was employed at Bud Kerley Sales in Stevensville, retiring as office manager in 1996 after forty years of employment. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, a volunteer at Sarrett Nature Center, and the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. Margaret volunteered for Discover Stevensville Days where she served as chairperson for the parade, volunteered in the polls for Lincoln Township Elections, and was a member of the Republican Women’s Association. In her spare time, Margaret enjoyed traveling, sewing, flower gardening, and feeding and watching birds. Mrs. Schaus is survived by her son Richard (Carol) Schaus of Schoolcraft, MI; two granddaughters-Amy (Kevin) Murphy of Grand Rapids, Carrie (Paulie) Cohen of Sandpoint, Idaho; her sister Shirley (Lester) Geisler of Stevensville; her sister-in-law Lorraine Ott of Stevensville; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Floyd Schaus on October 7, 1980, and her brother William “Bill” Ott.
