Allen's Obituary
Allen D. Pudell, 71, of St. Joseph, Michigan passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006, in Ashville, NC, while vacationing with family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 28, at Baroda Zion United Church of Christ, 9100 Church St., Baroda, with Rev. Dr. Christopher Noffke officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at Kerley-Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will be in Spring Run Cemetery, St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baroda Zion United Church of Christ, or the charity of your choice. Those wishing to share a memory or sign the guestbook online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Allen was born October 7, 1934 in Sawyer, Michigan. He was the youngest of nine children born to Louise (Sonnenberg) & Julius Pudell, Sr. He grew up in the Coloma area and was a graduate of Coloma High School in 1953. On April 14, 1956 he married Janet Stemm in St. Joseph. They just celebrated fifty years of marriage. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, spending most of his tour of duty in Germany. After his military service, Allen and Janet purchased their home in St. Joseph where they have lived for the past 47 years. Allen retired from Mono Ceramics in 1998, where he worked for 10 years. He was also employed at Heath Company as warehouse supervisor for 21 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to camp and spend time with his friends and family. Allen was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. Allen is survived by his wife Janet; his children – Cheryl (Mike) Glaske of Stevensville, and Stephen (Lorie) Pudell of Watervliet; grandchildren Brandon and Alison Glaske, Amy (Jason) Variell; great-grandchild Hailey Variell; and brother Wilbert (Marlene) Pudell of Benton Harbor. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and five brothers.
